Term 1 Tanja Meyler

We were very fortunate to have Tanja Meyler from Sweden visit our school for two months.

During this period Tanja practised curative eurythmy with several of the children.

This was of great benefit to them and we as a school appreciate what she was able to do for them

A big thank you to her.

Thank you to Ninky & Frank Matthee for hosting Tanja during her stay in Hermanus.

On the 19th March, classes 4&5 went on an excursion to the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens & Penguin Colony in Betty’s Bay.

This was as a result of a very generous donation from classes 4 & 5 of the Ellen Key Skolan Sweden.

At the Botanical gardens we were met by two ladies and divided into two groups.

We used magnifying glasses to look for small creatures on the ground and under leaves.

We found spiders, millipedes, butterflies ants and spider webs on silk trees.

In the wetlands we had to find frogs and dragonflies. We then went to the fynbos area where we learnt about the protea, erica, aloe and bulb species.

We walked up to the waterfall. It was an amazing to hear the loud noise, see the coffee coloured water and see how the foam makes patterns on the surface.

We had lunch on the lawn and from there we went to visit the penguin colony.

We thank our pen pals from Sweden who so generously sent us the money for this wonderful outing
