Chariot Race – Greek Games Constantia

Greek Olympics at Constantia Waldorf School
Nigel Gaditzwa: (own words)
On Friday our class 6 went to Constantia Waldorf School.
When we arrived we got out of the bus. We carried the wood and food. After that we were asked to wear our chitons. When we were finished we asked to go to the hall. When we got to the hall we had to receive our colours, and which city we were going to. My city was Delphi, and all the time we had to carry our shaft. Your city had to be neat. The first game we played was the red ball for warming up. Then we were asked to go to the field. We started the spider jump for points. The games started when the Olympic flame was lit at six o' clock. We also sang "Garious Apollo"
On Saturday it was a marathon. In every challenge we did, the teacher had to measure the distance. The challenges were javelin, long jump, sprints and relay. We all went into the hall to receive medals. The leader had measured everything. When I threw the javelin it went far and it measured seventeen metres. Was very proud of myself

We arrived at the Constantia School and we wore our chitons. We had our lunch and we went to the hall and sat down. Mr Miehe was calling out names from each school, and then we got our colours. I had an orange ribbon. My city was Delphi. After that we unpacked at the city. Mr Miehe threw the red ball, it was just a warm up. We went to all the outside disciplines. At 6.00 we lit the Olympic flames to start the games. Delphi started with a discus, javelin, marathon, long jump and the shotput. One of our leaders measured all the disciplines. They had to find the winner from each city. There were four girls and four boys chosen. They were to do the relay. The winners were given medals. Then we said thank you to the parents who dished up the food and we went marching out of the hall in three straight lines. Then everyone packed their clothes and we went home

WEDNESDAY MORNING

I see what I see
I see very well you see
I see the lawnmower
Cutting the grass

Do you see what I see?
I see the grass
Cut by a man
In his hand
A can
Of Petrol
